The intricate relationship between public transportation and urban environments is evident in the case of Berlin's U-Bahn system, which has evolved over a century, reflecting the city's history, politics, and culture. The U-Bahn's 20 interchange stations serve as focal points, allowing passengers to transfer between lines and embodying the city's identity.

This thesis explores the historical evolution and architectural typology of these interchange stations, employing archival research, on-site observations, and comparative analysis to uncover design patterns and societal influences. It aims to unravel the layers of Berlin's U-Bahn history, from its inception to its contemporary significance, on its role in shaping the urban fabric and collective identity of the city.
